A montage of eleven black and white photos ranging in size from 2.5" x 4" to 13.5" x 10.5", mounted on beige backing, with title "The Big Snow Storm" and lengthy list of people who were stranded at the Hixson Hotel during the 1940 Armistice Day blizzard. Approximately 140 people are listed, along with home towns across Minnesota and from Iowa, Michigan and Wisconsin as well. Large photo at center is of the cafe dining room (Hixson Cafe sign at right) with approximately 60 people standing and sitting at tables. Four 9" x 7" photos show: a crane pulling a railroad locomotive out of snow; cars "parked" in snowdrifts on highway; two photos of large rooms full of cots and people. Six snapshots are exterior photos, one of Hixson hotel and cafe, five with people - the Olsons and staff (little or no snow evident in these photos).
