This embroidered panel is use to decorate Miao clothing. It was made prior to 1990 by members of the Miao community in Guizhou Province, China. This embroidered panel is one of the pieces that were taken from existing jackets that were no longer in use. Linn Veltema acquired the object while traveling to Guizhou Province, China in 1999 from a Chinese collector.
Majority of the embroidery are done in red threads. There are a few green, purple, and white threads. There are copper sequins scattered throughout the cloth. The design is embroidered on a blue fabric.
The design consists of a deity sitting on an animal with white tusks, may be an elephant. There are animals surrounding the deity, some with wings, others without.
