Description

“Yao” is labeled on the bottom of the wooden block the doll is standing on. She has on a black headscarf and shirt with brown cross-stitched pants. She has silver earrings, necklaces and a bracelet cuff on each wrist. There are red yarn woven into the bamboo basket she is carrying on her back and she holds the red yarn in her hands resting in front of red pompoms in front of the outfit. This doll belongs to the Yao ethnic group is Southeast Asia.

Geographic Notes
Bought in Vientiane, Laos by Clarice Osborn in the early 1970s. Osborn brought them with her to the US in Brenham, TX.
