Description

“Meo Lai” is labeled on the bottom of the wooden block the doll is kneeling on. She is wearing a black headwrap with red pom poms at the top and a black and white striped ribbon hat. She has on a blue and black embroidered shirt with a black and white embroidered fold-over wrap skirt, a front cross-stitched apron and pink and green sash. She has silver earrings, cuff bracelets and xauv. In her hands, she is holding a paj ntaub. This doll belongs to the ethnic group, Hmong, in Southeast Asia.

Geographic Notes
Bought in Vientiane, Laos by Clarice Osborn in the early 1970s. Osborn brought them with her to the US in Brenham, TX.
