Description

“Tai Nuong” is labeled on the bottom of the wooden block the doll is standing on. The doll is wearing a blue woven headwrap, black pants and a black shirt. She has a wrap with red and blue lining and paj ntaub on the back that holds a baby by her left shoulder. She is wearing silver earrings, a necklace, and bracelet cuffs. In her hands, she has balls of thread and a woven bamboo fan. This doll belongs to the ethnic group, Tai Nung, in southeaster Vietnam and southern China.

Geographic Notes
Bought in Vientiane, Laos by Clarice Osborn in the early 1970s. Osborn brought them with her to the US in Brenham, TX.
