Description

“White Tai (Tai Khao)” is labeled on the bottom of the wooden block the doll is standing on. She belongs to the Tai Don “Tai Khao” ethnic group in northern Laos and Vietnam. Their name came from the white shirt women in the group wear. This doll is wearing a white shirt with black lining with blue/black embroidered wrap skirt and a black head cloth. She is carrying a woven straw basket on her side. 

Geographic Notes
Bought in Vientiane, Laos by Clarice Osborn in the early 1970s. Osborn brought them with her to the US in Brenham, TX.
