Photograph of an automobile wreck "The auto struck by passenger train 5-29-12, Bigelow, Minn. The car is totaled. Related to photo 2009.026.0124.PC Mr. Haack was killed at Bigelow. The following is the caption of the photo as it appeared in the Daily Globe: "Nine children lost their father in the car-train crash shown in this picture from the Nobles County Historical Society collection. Killed May 29, 1912, was Herman Haack, Bigelow. The fatal collision with Passenger Train No. 6 of the Omaha railroad occurred a mile south of Bigelow, as Mr. Haack was making his daily trip into the village. Survivors included his wife, four sons and five daughters. One of the sons, John Haack was also Killed in a car-train collision in George Iowa, in 1936. Two of Mr. Haack's daughters, Alvina and Agnes are currently living at 811 Seventh Ave. in Worthington.
