Description

Framed watercolor painting of Brewster looking north. Belonged to Beth Trunk - donated in Beth Trunk's memory by Gay Schmidt, brought in by Shirley Jensen. The scene depicted looks to be circa 1930 with both horses and cars using main street Brewster. It was painted by Matilda Cross who was educated at Brewster High School, Worthington Junior College and art school in St. Paul. She worked as a commercial artist in the Twin Cities for several years where she maintained a studio with a friend from school. She moved back to Brewster to help out with the family but continued to create art in a studio on her parent's farm. Matilda passed away on May 5, 2011.
