Description
Wooden lunch box used by Anfinson family on farm on SE edge of Milaca. Youngest child Ruth would carry lunch to field crew; subsequently used as twine dispenser. Bottom and top made of thin boards. Sides made of one thin piece of wood with corners scored vertically (12 scores each) so that wood could be bent into rounded corners. Wood is overlapped and sewn on one side, possibly with willow. Bottom is tacked in place with fine metal nails around outer edge. Top has wooden handle, and fits between posts attached to each end (wood pegs?). Handle appears to be attached with wood pegs and fine metal tacks. Lid fits between posts and is snug enough to stay on while being carried. The end of the lid with tabs fits over the stouter of the posts - lid will not fit any other way, must be removed by slight outer pressure on stouter post. Exterior painted grayish brown.
