Creation Date

December 26 2004

Description

Collection of fifty color photographs taken by Meredith Vaselaar of the fire that destroyed the Adrian Hardware Store on December 26, 2004. The brick building was built in 1891 as a one story dry goods store. A second story was added in 1895, making it the biggest establishment in Nobles County at the time. The building passed through various hands until it was purchased in 1935 by J. J. Schutz. It remained in the family for 57 years. In 1992, Virgil Schutz sold it to Wes and Rose Henrikson and Dennis and Anne Kruger. The Henriksons bought the Kruger's interest out in 1994. At one point there held dances in the second floor.
