This bonnet was worn by Karen Sophie Christensen, who emigrated from Denmark in 1867. Karen lived in Rushmore during her later years. It features a floral design popular in Scandinavia in the 1860's. Bonnet, Embroidered, worn in 1861, belonged to Karen Sophie Christensen, (Mrs. Peter Christensen) She was the mother of Josephen Christensen Thom. She was born in 1833 Maribo Co. Denmark and died 1903 Nobles Co. MN She and Peter and 2 sons immigrated from Denmark to the US in 1867. She and Peter lived in Rushmore in their later years, probably with their Son, Will Christensen (Rose - gp 484, 284 col. 2)
