Description

A linen wall hanging with a printed design of an image from 1818 that illustrates a Bible story in a manner Swedes would relate to, by using images and decoration familiar to them.  This panel depicts Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, which is the central image.  Surrounding this, to the left are stylized rendered buildings, and to the right are large floral kurbits.  The piece is bordered in blue, and also features kurbits across the bottom and top.  Printed in lower right corner: Kopia Hans Prins".  Original Gammelgarden artifact number H-1206-21.  The wall hanging has sewn hems and a curtain rod sleeve/pocket across the back of the top.

The Bible story is printed: “Om Jesu Christi inridande ufi gladen Jerusalem.  Pa ena afna och folfet bredde fina blader.  Pa Bragen.  Anno 1818.”  “The Lord Jesus Christ blessed Jerusalem.  On one side and the other spread fine leaves.  Good luck.  In 1818.”
