Collection of correspondence from Minnesota State Senator John Marty to the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Dated May 18, 2011. Through the letter, Senator Marty’s asks CMS not to extend the 1115 waiver that allows Minnesota’s HMO-administered Medicaid program to receive federal dollars. Senator Marty’s request was based on his concerns over program mismanagement by the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) and Minnesota HMOs. Senator Marty asks instead for the state to contract “directly with hospitals, clinics” and “doctors … to deliver health care to low income people.”
