Description

A cotton/linen blend taupe wall hanging with a printed reproduction of the image “Ungdomskvarnen” from 1812 by Jufwas Anders Ersson (1757 - 1834).  Across the top of the image: “Har lan gamla kjarlingar malas om och bli unga pa nytt” ("Do old women get ground up and become young again").   With floral kurbits surrounding it, the image depicts a ladder up to a raised room with a second ladder descending.  Men assist older women up the ladder to the room where a man, the miller (Mjölnaren) works his mill.  Younger women are accompanied back down the descending ladder with escorts.    Below the mill, one man pushes a wheelbarrow, and a horse pulls a cart with three females loaded.  Hemmed.  Tag:  “Frösö Handtryck AB, Made in Sweden, 53% Cotton, 47% Linen/Flax”.  Original Gammelgarden artifact number H-0691-09.
