A flat-plane carving depicting a Sami, or Saami, man shown in traditional folk dress, or folkdräkt, made of wood and paint.  The outfit includes a blue tunic with red and yellow trim around the neckline, across the shoulders, at the bottom hem and cuffs, and across the upper back.  The tunic is worn over a blue shirt and blue pants, with a black belt with silver painted ornamentation.  Around the neck is an intricate piece of silver jewelry with horizontal red bands.  On the head is a blue cap with red and yellow trim around the base and encircling the crown and featuring a large red tassel.  The pointed shoes feature red and yellow trim around the arch of the foot.  The male figure is depicted with black hair and a broad smile.  Signed “Gunnar” on the bottom of the left foot.
