Description

A soft blue wool ½-apron with a red satin waistband and ties, and a red satin lining/backing for the decoration across the bottom.  That decoration includes metallic ribbon and black velvet ribbon forming a grid around three squares that contain an embroidered image of yellow, green and white stars, an orange vertical curving line surrounded by yellow and white scrolls, and a central image of green, white, orange and yellow scrolls and stars.  This ½-apron is part of a traditional provincial folk dress, or folkdräkt, costume from Östra Göinge, Skåne, Sweden.  See C-0594-26 for a similar apron from Östra Göinge, Skåne, Sweden.  See also C-0345a-21 through C-345h-21 for a complete folk dress, or folkdräkt, outfit from Östra Göinge, Skåne, Sweden.  Unattributed.

This pattern is similar to folk dress, or folkdräkt, from Värend, Småland, indicating a connected costume area from earlier times.
